A publication in the prestigious cardiology journal, Circulation Research, indicated that in patients with heart failure and low ejection fractions, intravenous infusion of umbilical derived stem cells was safe. Improvements in heart function, functional status and quality of life were observed in patients treated with umbilical stem cells up to 1 year of followup.
